With the help of Nigel Godrich (“The 6th Member” of Radiohead), Brooklyn’s Here We Go Magic aim to reinvent their sound with A Different Ship, their 3rd official full-length. “Make Up Your Mind” is the albums jangly lead-off single, and a true testament to the bands freshly sculpted new style. Young Pharaohs: “Mr. 100″

Young Pharaohs – Mr. 100

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Just like the Miami Heat (couldn’t resist), Denver’s King Mob mile-high’s Young Pharaohs spent most of 2011 assembling, disassembling and reassembling all over again. It was a grueling task, but a process that needed to happen in order for this funkified r&b trio to guarantee latter success. Now, over a year later, they return; reborn, renamed, and ready to take their spot atop the future-sex thrown of 2012. Where singles like “Mr. 100″ have infinite room to bask in their forward-thinking greatness.

Look for a TBA Chill Mega Chill release from Young Pharaohs in the coming months. Can’t wait!

[Album Stream] Porcelain Raft: Strange Weekend

Speaking directly from my heart (as Mauro Remiddi would say), Porcelain Raft’s new Strange Weekend LP is one of the best full-length releases the music world has scene in years. A fluent masterpiece, from front to back. He really pored his blood, sweat and tears into this bad boy. Strange Weekend officially drops on January 24th (U.S.) but you can stream the entire thing via Hype Machine below ::

Seapoint’s “Ours” is easily one of the best electronic songs I’ve heard in my entire existent as a blogger. And with only 500 total plays, this gem is also one of the most underrated creations of all time, so seriously, go listen to it. My friend Xavier Léon of the newly formed Half & Half Records outfit is scheduled to drop his new EP soon. Cheers to 2012.

Note // Macklin “fthrsn” Underdown has been personally emailing this track to friends/fthrsn lovers alike. This is not an official release. Email me at jake@speakersnacks.com if you desire the mp3.

Originally, fthrsn’s Hysteria EP (out now via Speaker Snacks Recs) was slated to include a song called “I’m Alone Child.” Unfortunately, time constraints made it impossible for the track to appear on the EP. Now, approximately 3 months later, the mystery track is live. And just like Hysteria, “I’m Alone Child” explodes with electrifying vocal hooks and contagious pop grooves. It’s just another day in the life of Ann Arbor’s fthrsn

Tip Toes: “Indecisions”

“Indecisions,” Flashlight Tag’s farewell track of 2011 is one big blanket of comfort and warmth. I wont be posting a “Christmas jingle” this year (or any year) but Tip Toes’ “Indecisions” all but makes up for my holiday void; it’s nostalgic, inviting and does everything in it’s power to send you to the place you call home…

It’s been really fun to watch bands (that I hyped over 2 years ago) grow into their own before my very eyes. Nurturing their budding genius into something I can tangibly appreciate and love on a day-to-day basis. And whereas some bands gracefully fall into the void of yesteryear, others, like N.Y.’s Porcelain Raft have fully embraced their talents, crafting a truly unique style that anyone and everyone can get hip to. Porcelain Raft has always had “the vision,” but it’s new tracks like “Put Me To Sleep” that prove their lasting worth…

KWALA: Projectionss EP

KWALA – Aquarius Machine Co.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Well, I can safely uncross my fingers, KWALA’s debut EP Projectionss, out now via FreeForm Records is incredible. With so many producers falling flat on their noses after releasing a few “buzz-worthy” singles, Charleston’s KWALA, the freshest of blood in the game right now earns his keep in a matter of 12.5 minutes. He’s that good. And instead of jumping aboard the copycat train, KWALA launches his own campaign, molding styles and techniques made popular by music scenes across the globe into a love nest all his own. The outcome is mature, seamless and mellow to the max…
